Antique 16k Gold Mounted Onyx Mourning Locket, Seed Pearls Set in Cross, Crucifix, c.1860s

Antique 16k Gold Mounted (5.80 grams gross) mourning locket, Onyx mounted with enameled 16k gold cross set with seed pearls. Seed pearls represented the tears of the mourner.. Not engraved, but most often pale blond hair was that of an infant or child.

Onyx Locket, Glass On One Side, c.1860s. 25 mm x 18 mm x 10 mm plus bale.

Very good to excellent condition for age and type, one cover glass inside and a lock of blond hair, original.  Not engraved, perhaps interior awaits your own memento. No chips to beveled edge or to either panel of natural onyx stone. Hinge and clasp working smoothly and well.
