Georgian era 18k gold mourning brooch with dark blond to light brunette plaited lock of hair still perfectly held within, and an elegantly worked serpentine form, border with shells. The total weight is 6.25 grams, with 18k gold estimated weight over 5 grams of that (today’s melt value: $550+ on 1.10.2026) – please don’t buy these to melt them. They’re an important bit of history and very beautiful. Full measurements noted on our photos. I’ve worn these in a grouped array pinned to a tailored black velvet AKRIS jacket lapel, and absolutely loved the look – many compliments and questions.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type, I find no dents, no damage, no loss or chips on thin beveled cover glass. The finer of these were made with solid backs, which you see herein. Possible restoration of hinged pin back. An exceptional 25 mm x 20 mm size. I have many many of these to list. Come back regularly if you’re a collector.
