Antique 18th Century Georgian Portrait Miniature Set in 18k Bracelet or Necklace Clasp Frame

This elegant 18th century gentleman’s portrait was once the clasp fo a bracelet. You see the fittings at the top and bottom ends, which are also slightly wider than at center to fit the curve of wrist. I’ve had pairs of Georgian bracelets with many rows of seed pearls, and a portrait miniature as clasp like this. For my interest in it, it was the superb painting in miniature, an English gentleman in red top coat. Found in England. Full measurements noted on the photos.

Very good to excellent condition for age and type. No damage to the painting. The gold bracelet clasp mount or ‘frame’ is very identifiable by its shape and by the openings at top and bottom edges into which the clasp would be inserted and the bracelet strands attached. One can have a jeweler recreate the insert pieces to return it to original form as a bracelet clasp. Slightly convex and polished cover glass still intact.
